“As one of today’s talented young vocalists, Taylor McCoy’s musical future is very bright!”
- Steve Davis, trombonist
TAYLOR MCCOY is a singer based in New York City, by way of Hartford, CT. After singing all her life in the secrecy of her home, Taylor auditioned for her high school big band in her junior year. After landing the part, Taylor started to explore jazz music, a genre she did not have any experience with prior. In fact, Taylor’s music history starts with her obsession with the radio. With her insatiable appetite, she would flip through many of the popular stations, learning as many songs as she could remember. Performing in her high school helped her to realize her dreams were a possibility, so Taylor enrolled at the Hartt School of Music to earn her Bachelor in Music degree in 2014.
During a 4-year hiatus from the Hartt School, Taylor performed throughout New England and New York, at notable venues such as The Iridium, The Django, the Greater Hartford Festival of Jazz, and the Northampton Jazz Festival. Once COVID-19 impacted the world, Taylor decided to re-enroll at the Hartt School to complete her degree by 2022. With growing experience and a prestigious degree under her belt, Taylor continues to perform jazz music with many talented musicians. In 2021, Taylor McCoy and Michael Carabello formed a R&B/Jazz-influenced band called Mixed Company.
